SickBoyz & The Bands
A journey that changed my life.

IT START WITH
An Endless Passion for Music
For Discovery, for People, for Life...
SickBoyz is a punk band from KL. We play punk rock, hardcore, and rock ‘n’ roll. Started by Rudy and Ateh Jahat back in 2016, the band’s idea came from Ah Hong way before, but Rudy wanted to focus on No Security at the time—a street punk band with heavy UK82 vibes. After Rudy left No Security, he teamed up with Ateh Jahat to form SickBoyz. Before that, Ateh was in Vixxen, but the band was inactive at the time.
After forming SickBoyz, Rudy and Ateh quickly got some sessionists to fill in, as gigs started rolling in soon after. Our first gig was at The Key in Melaka, and Ary Skywalker from Incase helped us out on drums. Ah Hong joined as bassist for one gig at Embrace Hall, JB, before he had to step down due to other commitments. He used to play bass for Ranomes and Vixxen.
In the early days, SickBoyz played gigs outside KL—The Key in Melaka, Embrace Hall in JB, and Rockin in JB, with help from sessionists like Apek Sarawak on bass, Acu (Media Skeptic) and Naji (Karaskass) on drums. From 2016 to 2018, we didn’t release any official material, just performed original songs like “Talam 2 Muka,” “Dadah Durjana,” and “Because of Music” (originally by No Security), plus covers of bands like FTG, GBH, Marjinal, The Casualties, Chaos UK, Sex Pistols, The Addicts, Social Distortion and more.
We started getting gigs in KL too, like at Rumah Api, Behave Studio, where sessionists Arol Soleh and Boy from No Security helped out. Other musicians who supported us include Adeib Kamal (ABC Youth) on bass at Punk vs Metal in The Bee KL, and Elby Armpunk Sindicate, who played drums at Oasis Damansara & Libertasia, Zed Armpunk Sindicate as rhythm guitar at Libertasia show and Aidil as Drummer played at several gigs (Aidil is Eddy Wings son)
Before 2019, the lineup was always changing, with just Rudy and Ateh Jahat as the core members. In 2019, we finally locked down a steady lineup with BoBo Brxton and Didi Kidjay, two talented young musicians—Bobo was 12 and Didi was 16 when they joined. Both had played in bands like Rockages, MUDA, Armpunk Sindicate, and Shut Up.
Right now, the SickBoyz lineup is Rudy on vocals, Ateh Jahat on lead guitar, Didi Kidjay on rhythm guitar, and Bobo Brxton on bass. We’re still using session drummers for gigs. Fahmi from Studio Merah is managing the band, and he’s also the manager of Def Gab C.
We dropped a split EP with Shut Up, called Double Strike, recorded at Studio Merah and released under Starfuck Records and Studio Merah. The launch gig was on 27/4/2019 at Stadium Chin Woo, featuring bands like ACAB, Superiots (Indonesia), Straight Answer (Indonesia), SOG, and more. Moyong from SubRejects and Sekam was our session drummer at that time.
Later, we got Apex as our full-time drummer. He’s a well-known punker from Kuantan, also known as Apex Askar due to his military background. In 2019-2020, we played a few more gigs around KL before COVID hit and everything slowed down.
After the pandemic, we came back strong with a new EP Fantasy, which leaned more towards hardcore compared to our previous punk rock releases. It was recorded in Studio Merah and Migos Garage, with mixing and mastering handled by Bobo. We launched Fantasy on 1/10/2024 at Angkasa Space (now BE KL), with Rudy on vocals, Bobo on bass, Didi on rhythm guitar, and Apex on drums. Ateh couldn’t join as he was in Kedah, so Izzy from Kureiji played lead guitar for the launch gig. This EP was published by Studio Merah in cassette format.
Since then, we’ve played a few more shows, including Last Minute Fest for Stainless’ album launch and PitFest at Drum Asia. After a year and a half of silence, in September 2024, we finally finished our latest EP, Bangkit Semula, which features 5 tracks in the rock ‘n’ roll and punk rock genre.
Bobo and Didi couldn’t join us for Bangkit Semula due to their commitments with Cherry On Top, but they’re still part of the SickBoyz family. Dukegong (ex-Hujan) and Ben Mohamed (a busker and club musician) have stepped in to fill their spots. The EP was recorded at Rude Sounds Studio, mixed and mastered by Rudy under the Rude Sounds Records label, and is available on cassette now!

It never ends
Passion never die. It grows
Stay Hungry and Strong
Looking ahead, we’re planning a split album with SickGirlz and our own full album with around 20 songs. Recording is already underway. Huge thanks to everyone who’s supported us, especially the Pyrate Punx and Noisy Punks community, and our friends from The Key Melaka, The Wall Batu Pahat, the Johor Bahru scene, Penang, Kuantan, and the Keramat Durjana hardcore crew.
